Sliding axles and hydraulic tail trailers come in a variety of sizes and configurations. Transwest has the best trailer for your operation’s needs.
Both sliding axle and hydraulic tail trailers make it easy to load equipment and cargo with a lower load angle . A sliding axle trailer allows the trailer suspension to hydraulically move forward so the trailer has a better load angle when loading and unloading. A hydraulic tail trailer uses hydraulics to extend a main ramp and approach ramp to obtain a lower load angle. Heavy-duty construction or agricultural equipment and tractors are often transported on a sliding axle or hydraulic tail trailer due to its low load angle and the ability to handle substantial weight. Shipping containers are also often hauled on sliding axle trailers for easier loading and unloading. Any equipment that has low ground clearance also can be transported on either a sliding axle or hydraulic tail trailer, which is why towing companies and automotive transport companies also rely on these specialized trailers.
Transwest works with these industries and others to provide quality, heavy-duty sliding axle and hydraulic tail trailers. With a variety of options already in the yard, purchasing and financing is quick and painless. Once you’ve become a customer of Transwest, we take care of you, whether you have financed your trailer or need to have it serviced. Our trusted staff is happy to help you and your business.
A sliding axle trailer is used to haul low-clearance equipment when a very small approach angle to load the trailer is required. Special heavy-duty construction equipment, agricultural equipment with low clearance, and even shipping containers are all easily transported on a sliding axle trailer.
A hydraulic tail trailer, as the name indicates, uses hydraulics to assist the operator when loading and unloading equipment and cargo on ramps at the rear of the trailer. For heavy-duty applications, the ramps that unfold at the rear of a trailer can be quite heavy for one person to manage. Hydraulics are a great alternative. The ramps at the rear (or “tail”) of the trailer are powered to make extension and retraction easy and to keep the operator safe.
Hydraulic tail trailers are available in a number of different configurations. Some have ramps that fold on hinges just once, while others have a double-hinged design to allow for longer ramps and a smaller approach angle. The double-hinged tails require more powerful hydraulics to operate but can accommodate cargo with very low clearance.
The cost of a sliding axle trailer depends on a variety of factors, including whether you plan to purchase new or used, how the trailer is constructed, its GVWR, and the options or configuration you choose. Thus, the cost can vary drastically.
To get a better estimate of the cost, book a call or meeting with a Transwest team member. Our professionals have all the information you need for your purchase decision. Make sure you know how much weight you’re hauling, what kind of equipment or cargo you intend to transport, and what approach angle you require for any low-clearance equipment. Using this information and your budget, they will be able to quote an accurate purchase cost and discuss financing details.
