When you’re buying a conversion bus, it’s important to take your time and perform your due diligence. Start by determining your budget. How much can you spend? Remember that a recreational vehicle is an investment, just like a house or a car. You may pay less for an older vehicle with high mileage, but you’ll get what you pay for. Once you’ve determined your budget, think about what kinds of internal features you want the vehicle to have. Do you plan to live in your RV for long periods of time, or are you looking for a smaller vehicle for weekend trips? You want to make sure that you get a living space that fits your needs and an engine that runs well so you will be satisfied in the long run.
It’s possible to convert many different types of buses. The best decision largely depends on what you need in an RV. Start by considering how much room you need inside your vehicle. If you plan to spend a lot of time in it, you may be better off going with a larger, transit-style bus. However, keep in mind that large buses can be difficult to maneuver and more costly to fill up with gas.
If you plan to use your converted bus for shorter, spontaneous trips, you may decide to go with a conventional bus with less passenger room. Finally, be sure to pay attention to factors that will impact the life cycle of your bus, such as the engine, transmission type, year, and mileage.
The rules for parking a bus typically vary from state to state, so you should always check on local or city guidelines to make sure you comply with the law. Popular places for buses to park include rest stops, truck stops, and campgrounds at national parks and forests. Large vehicles are often allowed to park on the street in many places for up to 72 hours, as long as there are no signs that dictate otherwise. Although superstores like Walmart are commonplace for buses and RVs to park overnight, many stores patrol their parking lots at night to kick out sleepers. Some casinos will allow buses and RVs to park overnight as long as you sign up first. Always keep an eye out for signs that prohibit camping or overnight parking before parking your bus in a new location.
Don't let financing stand between you and your RV ownership dreams. We'll help you find RV financing that fits your needs and budget.
